Rockhampton Wedding Photography – Kathryn & Scott.

The idea of shooting Scott & Kathryn’s wedding was at first just a little daunting. They’re both in creative medias and have reputations fitting the great work they’ve done. Don’t get me wrong- they never came across as opinionated or demanding (they were in fact the very opposite!). Anyways- that little bit of daunted-ness was gone after about 20 minutes of our engagement shoot. Different- that was pretty much the brief once we got going. And while different can at times be tough- they all… Did good. ; ). Things seemed to just come together and work and that’s how it should be- it just felt easy..

There was of course more to their day then that. What they had both organised particularly for the reception was amazing. Add the fact that they had pretty much done it all themselves- and it sure was impressive. Otherwise it was just nice to be there to see it all. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know these 2 pretty well (even though I called Kathryn “Kathleen” at Katie & David’s wedding in March- I still feel bad!). There’s something great about speeches at a reception and getting to know a bit more about people whose day you are there to document.

And finally- just a big ol’ thanks to you both. It’s such a big day and you already had lots to deal with- but you were both so good to me. All day- helping me where you could, it was beyond professional courtesy and very muchly appreciated!

How your wedding photos are ‘processed’ (work done after the day) is a big deal. While nothing replaces the right expression/lighting- how well an image is finished always has a huge impact on how good it looks. And it’s all about skin tone as far as I’m concerned. Red blotchy skin is not cool- and blurring the skin isn’t the way I like to handle it (and it doesn’t fix the problem!). Below are some examples of the stages of processing I go through- hope you notice the difference. ; ).

PS. I hope it also helps illustrate the work/time put in by professional photographers after your big day..

Rockhampton Wedding Photography – Andrew & Katie.

As I was leaving Andrew & Katie’s I was having a few last words with the groom. “It’s all about collaboration” I was saying. The day had gone well I thought and I had lots to be thankful for- things usually do go well on wedding days- being a day of celebration and all. But when the bridal party are particularly awesome you know the images are going to turn out that extra bit special. And when the bride and groom really care (ontop of being great people that you’re proud to call friends) you know there’s not much limiting how good the result can be.

So yeah- I couldn’t have asked for more from Katie & Andrew. Before the day or during. A couple of car pooled trips around Rocky/Gracemere meant we’d spent lots of time together and even before their wedding day it had turned into shooting a friends wedding. Add the fact they had wonderful people around them all day and I couldn’t have asked for more. It wasn’t hard to tell that Katie’s sisters were 100% focused on helping their little sister have the perfect wedding day. Megan & Robyn just seemed excited for her all morning and you couldn’t help but notice. All while the boys got ready at Andrews parents place; 10-12 friends and family (or at least it felt like that many people?); relaxing amongst the chaos of having lots of guests (even though Peter & Lynne were super duper hosts).

Otherwise I’ve run out of room (I talk & type too much). But I couldn’t finish this without saying thanks for a few other things. ; ).

So much to say about this day.

2 people that I’ve known for years- in a country wedding where I think the entire town was excited. An open air reception, with the biggest moon of the year and crazy low temperatures. The whole day just had a charm which is difficult to communicate and the night was always going to be a late one. There were still people going when I called stumps at 2:30am and snoozed/froze in in my car. Don’t worry the last few hours for me was mainly catching up over beers and laughing at the people who were falling asleep in their chairs.

Yeah it was very pretty too- Jos & the family did an amazing job getting it to all look so special. Gee the day was more then pretty pictures though- it had substance. Everyone who spoke was greatful/proud of their involvement. Plenty were teary- and I don’t think anyone wanted it to end.

Thanks for taking such good care of me guys. I was spoilt. Thank You- and congratulations. ; ).

Rockhampton Wedding Photography – David & Katie

Bumping into these two while shopping (the week of their wedding) re-confirmed what I already knew. They are a ~~super~~ SUPER relaxed couple. David was unlucky enough to have come off second best to some bitumen road and his face- had- lets say.. a bit of a mark. Although it wouldn’t help anything- brides are 100% allowed to go into meltdown over such things- but Katie didn’t. They seemed cruisy as usual and their day was pretty much more of the same kind of thing- but beautiful at the same time. ; ). Thanks for having me along guys!

Rockhampton Wedding Photography – Dale & Brooke

The last couple of months have been good ones. Most weekends that I’ve shared in have been incredible. After every wedding it’s been “I’m gonna have to blog that”- but no bingo….That’s been the tale for the last 6 or so weeks. Shame on me.

5 weeks ago Dale & Brooke tied the knot and it sure was entertaining. They mentioned to me in the weeks before that Brooke’s grandmother was turning 95 on the very same day and they wanted to celebrate that too. After the ceremony- Brooke’s grandmother was the first person that she went to and during the reception the 95th bday cake was the cake that made the biggest fuss. Little things like that- putting other people first on your own wedding day point to good things.

Don’t get me wrong- THEY had a great day too. Brooke and the girls had a blast upstairs at Mantas, while Dale and the boys helped keep things on track from Echelon. Kudo’s to Dale for arranging a couple of very special visitors after the ceremony too. Cutest. Dogs. Ever.
